Euthanasia - What To Expect

Appointments are scheduled to provide ample time so you do not feel rushed. They typically last about an hour but can be extended if extra time is needed.

When Dr. Hagen arrives, she will give your pet some time to greet and sniff her until they are feeling more comfortable. She will have you sign some paperwork and finish the payment process. When you are ready, Dr. Hagen will give them an injection of a strong sedative while you feed them lots of yummy treats. The sedative helps your pet feel more relaxed and alleviates any pain they may be experiencing. Over the next ten to fifteen minutes, they will gradually become increasingly sleepy. Once they are sound asleep, she will give them a final injection that helps them to pass painlessly and peacefully while you are comforting them with lots of head scratches, belly rubs, and love. At this point, Dr. Hagen will step out and give you alone time to say your final goodbyes.
